Vermont’s Most Customizable Wedding Venues

Hi new friend! If you just got engaged, congrats! Maybe you’ve always imagined a small wedding. Maybe you’re just starting the planning process and already feeling the pull between what the wedding industry says a wedding should look like and what you actually want. Wherever you’re at this one’s for you.

In this post, I’m sharing 9 of my favorite intimate wedding venues in Vermont that can truly be customized to fit your vision. These are places I love as a Vermont wedding photographer, venues I think would be perfect for really any guest count, because the spaces that are genuinely built for couples who want their day to feel like them.

A quick note before you dive in

I put this resource together by diving deep into real reviews and feedback from couples who have celebrated there. I searched meticulously for little details that stood out, gems that kept popping up, the moments people couldn’t stop talking about, the stuff that tells you what a place is actually like to get married at. My goal was for this to feel less like a generic venue roundup and more like a conversation with someone who’s actually done the research. I hope it helps.

For Couples Who Want to Customize: 9 Vermont Wedding Venues

1. The Inn at Weathersfield (Perkinsville, VT)

I’ve photographed weddings at the Inn at Weathersfield and I want to tell you something about what it feels like to be there.

It’s quiet in a way that’s hard to find. A ceremony site tucked under a tree canopy. A farm to table restaurant where the food is so good your guests will still be talking about it months later. And owners, Ivan and Richel, who are genuinely present in a way that’s rare. I read in a review Ivan walked a couple through the entire property himself and then waited on their table at dinner that night. That’s the kind of place this is.

They host elopements for 2 to 12 people, micro weddings for 12 to 40, and larger celebrations up to 120. Whatever size your day is, they treat it like it’s the most important one they’ve ever done. Because the reviews make clear that to the owners it really is. One couple said the vibes were so relaxed it was exactly what they’d envisioned. Another said the chapel in the woods felt like a fairytale. Another eloped and said they truly couldn’t put into words how perfect it was.

I always say the best wedding days are the ones where you actually get to be present. The Inn at Weathersfield makes that easier than almost anywhere I’ve ever shot. Here’s a real wedding from that property so you can see what I mean.

Good fit if: You want wooded privacy, incredible food, and owners who treat your wedding like it genuinely matters, because it does.

2. The Tillerman (Bristol, VT)

The Tillerman is a beautiful farmhouse inn and restaurant. I saw in reviews couples consistently say the same thing: this is not a normal wedding venue. Stone walls, cottage gardens, a path to a babbling creek, little nooks and corners to discover everywhere. The kind of property where your guests wander around between dinner courses and keep finding something new.

The team here cares deeply about food, about sourcing locally, and about letting couples be genuinely creative. Multiple couples said it was the best wedding food their guests had ever had. Menu planning is described as a joy, not a chore. And the coordinator runs the wedding process in a way that couples planning from out of state especially appreciate. Communicative, warm, and on top of every single detail.

Couples can book out all the rooms so their people are together all weekend. There’s a party barn, a fire pit, and multiple ceremony locations to choose from to speak to what you connect with as a couple.

Good fit if: You want exceptional food, a team that genuinely cares, and a property that feels alive. With enough character in every corner that your photographer will never run out of places to get inspired.

3. Farmhouse Flowers (Moretown, VT)

A working flower farm with a hilltop ceremony site overlooking the Worcester Mountain Range.

Complete with a timber frame barn, a walking path that leads up to the hilltop where couples say their vows, surrounded by fields of perennials and annuals, and the mountains behind them. And while the ceremony site is stunning, what makes Farmhouse Flowers special is how much there is for guests to do throughout the day. They can play with the animals, sit by the pond, stroll through the garden, enjoy a firepit, play cornhole, or just wander among the flowers with a drink in hand. The whole property becomes the experience, not just the ceremony space.

There’s also a 3 bedroom guest home on the property making for the perfect option to stay on site. And because this is an actual flower farm, your florals can come straight from the ground you’re standing on.

What I love about this venue the most is they make it genuinely easy to figure out if they’re right for you. Pricing, availability, what’s included, how to tailor it to your needs. It’s all right there to find on their website! In the wedding industry that kind of transparency is so valuable.

Good fit if: You want a rustic New England vibe, wildflower fields, mountain views, transparent pricing to tailor your experience.

4. Bliss Ridge Farm (Moretown, VT)

When I was doing research and looking at reviews the thoughtful things couples shared about their experience here is unmatched. The ceremony takes place in an upper meadow that people consistently describe as unlike anything they’ve ever seen. You can see Sugarbush, Camel’s Hump, Mansfield, and the Worcester Range all at once. Every mountain that matters in Vermont right there.

The barn is rustic and spacious with antique wood floors, draped fabric, soft lighting, and a big vintage rug for dancing. But it also has real bathrooms and everything you need. Jordan, the owner, handles the details with a creative eye and a calm that couples planning from out of state especially appreciate.

And then there’s the treehouse. An actual treehouse (!?!), constructed within living trees (like, how cool!). With a spiral wooden staircase, a propane fireplace, a full kitchen, a rain shower, and sweeping mountain views from every window. Couples can stay there the night before and after the wedding.

This is a venue for couples who want to feel like they found something. Because they did.

Good fit if: You want the most breathtaking views in Vermont, a one of a kind experience, and a venue your guests will never stop bringing up.

5. Highland Lodge (Greensboro, VT)

The Northeast Kingdom is the Vermont that locals love most. Quieter and spread out. Less on the tourist trail. And Highland Lodge sitting on Caspian Lake in Greensboro feels exactly like that.

Elsa and Chad are the kind of hosts who make you feel like the weekend was designed specifically for you because it actually really is! Couples work with Elsa from the beginning on everything from lodging logistics for guests to perfecting the dinner menu. From reading reviews the vibe here is laid back, communicative, and genuinely easy.

The property has cabins with porches and lake views, several living rooms and sitting areas, a fire pit, a game room, a private beach with kayaks and canoes. And if you get married in the winter you’ll have access to Nordic Skiing Trails (yay!!). The on site restaurant serves seasonal, locally sourced food and drinks Thursday through Sunday.

Couples who book out the whole lodge for their people consistently describe it the same way: surrounded by everyone they love, with nowhere anyone needs to be.

Speaking of being present here are a few things I’ve learned about actually staying present on your wedding day.

Good fit if: You want a relaxed, full weekend Vermont experience on a lake, with a team that handles everything without making it feel like a production.

6. Grafton Inn (Grafton, VT)

What makes Grafton Inn special for weddings is that the entire weekend can happen on site. Welcome party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after party. All of it, without anyone having to get in a car. The Phelps Barn, the dining hall, the patio, the tavern, the swimming pond. Different spaces for different moments, which keeps the weekend feeling fresh and alive rather than like one long event in one long room. Team members run the whole thing so well that I read in reviews couples consistently describe the communication as clear, collaborative, and genuinely thoughtful from the very first call.

They’re also pet friendly! The village itself adds to the experience, guests talk about the quiet charm of the area as part of what made the weekend feel so special. And they have a dedicated elopements offering for couples who want something smaller and more intimate.

Good fit if: You want a historic Vermont inn where the whole weekend, every meal, every party, every moment, happens in one beautiful place, with a team that runs it all seamlessly.

7. Sterling Ridge Resort (Jeffersonville, VT)

Sterling Ridge is a stunning property with views of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak, and they’ve built their wedding packages around the fact that couples want very different things. An elopement package starts at $1,900 for a ceremony for two. A mini wedding for your closest circle starts at $2,900. A micro wedding with ceremony and reception starts at $4,800. And if you want the full exclusive resort weekend with everyone staying on property, packages go up from there. And yes, I found this all listed right on their website. I’m obsessed with venues that do this.

The cabins are rustic, private, and cozy. Fireplaces, porches, Jacuzzi tubs, wood burning stoves. Dog friendly. The kind of place where guests wake up, pour coffee, and sit outside in the mountain air before the day begins. Couples who’ve used Sterling Ridge for wedding weekends talk about the bonfires, the group breakfasts, the late nights under the stars. The wedding becoming a full experience, not just an event.

This is a venue where the setting carries a lot of the emotional weight. You just get to be in it.

Good fit if: You want transparent pricing, flexible package options, mountain views, and a property where your people can stay, gather, and actually spend time together all weekend.

8. Riverside Farm (Pittsfield, VT)

I’ll be honest with you Riverside Farm is the one on this list that stretches the definition of intimate. It’s a big property. With three beautifully restored barns, open fields and mountain views in every direction.

But I included it because some couples want that. They want the dramatic Vermont backdrop. They want the kind of barn that makes everyone’s jaw drop when they walk through the door. They want their small guest list to feel like a grand occasion. And Riverside with on site lodging in the Bridal Suite, Groom’s Cabin, and The Stables, and a coordinator team that couples describe as genuinely exceptional, can provide all that.

One review that stuck with me shared “I visited a lot of venues prior to Riverside and found that a lot of them have a specific formula that doesn’t feel very special or unique. Riverside has the perfect, rare mix where they coordinate every last detail with experience yet allow you to do anything you can dream up.”

For couples who want the full Vermont wedding weekend, even with a guest list that’s intentionally small, this is it.

Good fit if: You want dramatic scenery, on site lodging for your people, a full weekend celebration, and a venue that makes a small guest list feel like a grand occasion.

9. Inn at Round Barn Farm (Waitsfield, VT)

One of the only remaining round barns in Vermont. Built in 1910, on the National Register of Historic Places, sitting in the Mad River Valley with beautiful grounds in every direction. The barn alone is worth the trip.

But what couples talk about in reviews most isn’t the barn. It’s the team. Kim, Beverly, Ashley, and the rest of the staff are described over and over in reviews the same way: gracious, experienced, always three steps ahead. Beverly, the wedding coordinator, is the kind of person who listens so carefully during planning that on the actual day you don’t have to think about a single thing.

The inn has 12 guest rooms, each uniquely decorated with antiques, poster beds, fireplaces, and bathrooms that guests genuinely rave about. Couples who book out all 12 rooms for their people describe it as the best decision they made. The library, the game room, and the breakfast room become the place where everyone gathers and the weekend actually happens.

This is a place where the whole weekend feels taken care of. Not just the ceremony.

Good fit if: You want an iconic Vermont barn, a team that genuinely runs the show so you don’t have to, and a stay your guests will still be talking about years later.

Want to choose the perfect Vermont wedding venue?

The thing I want you to remember: Choosing a venue isn’t just about checking a box for planning. Before booking anything I recommend having a date night and together writing a letter to each other. Filled with how you want this day to feel and what’s important to you to experience. Return to it when you’re considering venues. And come back to it over and over when planning for a reminder. Prompts to consider for journaling on: “how do we want our wedding to feel for us and our guests?” or “what kind of atmosphere do we want to create”.

The venues on this list I hope will support you with those answers. In different ways for different kinds of couples. But they share something. They were built for days that actually mean something.

If you’re building your vendor team and not sure where to start, here’s how I think about choosing wedding vendors who are the right fit. And if you’re curious about photography, about what it looks like to have someone in the room who’s paying attention to all of it, reach out I’d love to talk.

Meet Marissa

I’m a Vermont wedding photographer who is in love with intimate gatherings and helping couples feel present on their chosen day. I also have a background as a licensed clinical social worker. Which means I show up to every wedding not just with a camera, but with a real understanding of what’s happening in the room. The nerves, the relief, the grief that sometimes sits quietly alongside the joy.

I will forever love photographing intimate weddings for couples who want to fully be present in their day. If that sounds like you, let’s connect.
